FAQ's
-
How do i book? You can book via phone, text, email or contact me via any of business social media accounts. A £50 non refundable booking fee is required for any new clients booking for microblading or SPMU. This can be paid via bank transfer or PayPal, once paid this secures your appointment date. I cannot hold dates without a booking fee being completed. You will then receive full confirmation.
-
What if I needed to cancel my appointment? All booking fees are non refundable if you were to cancel. To transfer the deposit onto a later date the policy is that 48 hours notice must be given. Cancellation without the above notice given will void your booking fee and to re book a new booking fee would be required. Please note the booking fee is there to cover a small amount of my time and products etc that would be wasted without sufficient notice. If you were to cancel your 6 week top up appointment with under 48 hours notice there would be a £25 charge when rebooking this appointment. This is to help me run as efficiently as possible and to avoid unnecessary wasted working hours.
-
Can I bring a friend or family member with me?Children are not permitted in the salon at any time. I politely ask that you DO NOT bring any family or friends with you to your appointments, if you do they will be asked to wait outside. (Unless you already have a double booking made or have cleared this with me in advance). You are likely to be in your appointment for a few hours each time and we have lots of important information to go through, so I find just having my client for a one to one is better for both of us. (Plus your partner will thank you, as from past experiences they will get very very bored!)
-
Do I have to have a consultation? No, it’s not compulsory. All clients must have a patch test and will receive general information and a form pack. This can be posted to you OR given at the consultation. I only advise a consultation for anyone who is very nervous, would like to meet me first or clients with medical/ health issues we need to discuss. I may also request to see you in person if you have had previous semi permanent makeup. Consultations are a good ice breaker, being ideal if you would like more information on any of my services however I do encourage when possible for this to be done over the phone. Everything you need will be given to you on the appointment date or in the post prior. But please get in touch anytime before hand with any other questions you may have.
-
How much is a consultation?Consultations are completely free, with no obligation to book. They run around 15-20 minutes.

Can I come to you if I have had previous semi permanent makeup or microblading with another technician?Removal of old SPMU / microblading is always recommended for best results. I currently do not offer removal however I hope to in the near future. For now I would be able to recommend you to a trusted technician for this service. In some cases where the old work is extremely faded I may be able to work over it. I will firstly ask for clear photos to be sent and/or to see you in person to make sure the old SPMU can be re worked on. I will then asses and discuss with you if we can carry out the treatment / how many would be needed. Unfortunately this will not be the case for everyone and I will send clients away when old SPMU is too saturated, too much pigment is left, scarring is visible, the work is very poorly done or the shape is uncorrectable. If I do feel I can work over your old SPMU I will look at managing your expectations for the best outcome. Working over previous work can be unpredictable and can change how my work will look once healed. However I really enjoy a challenge and have carried out lots of “cover ups” over my years as a semi permanent makeup artist. The cost is the same initially for cover ups however please note usually more chargeable sessions are required to achieve best results.

What is Microblading?Microblading is a form of permanent makeup that creates a natural looking brow with a handheld tool called a microblade.Microblading produces a very fine line that resembles real hair. Each individual hair stroke is hand drawn by the artist and blended in with the client’s existing eyebrow hair. But don’t worry if you have none/ very little brow hair, you can still have this treatment but it may be advised to add shading to your microblading. With the right experienced artist, the results can be gorgeous and very lifelike. Microblading typically takes two appointments to complete. In the first appointment, the client is profiled and the eyebrows are drawn on with a brow pencil, so the artist and client can agree on the look. After the treatment aftercare is thoroughly given. Your microblading should be completely healed in 30 days. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the main part of the healing to complete. The second appointment is your top up, which is carried out around 6-8 weeks after your initial session. This is included in your treatment price. The pigment in the epidermis has naturally had time to slough off, and the colour to settle into your skin. In the touch up appointment I can then see how your skin has received the pigment and add any necessary work.

Can I book with a friend?Yes. Please contact me to request a double appointment
-
Can I have two treatments done on the same appointment?Yes, I’ve had some clients have Brows, Lips and lash enhancement completed together. Please get in touch for more details and advise on this. I offer £25 off for each extra SPMU treatment you book. To qualify for this you must book and complete the deposit for them at the same time. Microneedling/ rejuvenation facial cannot be carried out on the same day as any SPMU treatments.

What brow style is best for me/ what is the difference between the styles you offer? This is something I can go through upon consultation or on the day. Here are the styles briefly explained below. Microblading- The most natural looking brow, just strokes implanted by a hand held tool. These give the illusion of hair strokes. Best on someone that has a good natural brow but wants to fill background and create a fuller more defined look. Not advised on really oily skin or skin with large pores in that area, this can cause the strokes to blur more when healed. Combination brow- Strokes and soft shading over the top. You can have a soft combo brow or a bold combo brow, depending on the look you want to go for. I use the added shading for clients who lack in natural brow hair, and need more of an illusion of brow hair and background. It actually can make the brows look more realistic. This is generally when I use a soft shading look, just to allow me for a better blend between your brow hair and my work and for reason. For clients that request a bolder brow but still like some hair strokes- the bolder combo brow can be created. This is some strokes but a lot of shading to really build up some colour and definition. Combo brow is usually suited to all skin types and is also better for oily and mature skin types. The combination of two techniques can make the treatment last longer.
-
Can I have an extra top up?Yes, Semi permanent makeup cannot always work by the book for each client. A lot of factors will affect how well a client will take to these procedures. These include: Lifestyle, skin type, aftercare, age, medication etc. I offer reduced prices for an extra top up if it were to be needed. This is valid for up to 12 weeks after your 6 week top, the extra session is £100. After this time frame clients are charged according to colour boost price brackets. These “extra sessions” are always in rare cases, and to the client’s choice.
-
Do you hold offers? Please check my Facebook page, any offers can be found there.
-
Does it hurt?Every client is different. I can see lots of clients in a week and everyone I will see will have a slightly different take on it. This mostly depends on your personal pain threshold. On average it’s very manageable; I have had clients fall asleep and snore! Depending what style of semi permanent makeup you go for / what area is being treated, it generally feels like a sharp scratch. A lot of clients would say microblading is like plucking and threading
-
How long does SPMU take to heal? You should be able to wear your new semi permanent makeup to your brunch date or back to work! But this is optional- I would advise because of the healing routine its best to avoid doing too much in the following 24 hours. But there isn’t any harm in carrying on as normal as soon as you walk out my salon. Just don’t book any photo shoots or big events in the following few weeks after treatment. Your SPMU/Microblading should be completely healed within 30 days. In the first 7-10 days, you’ll need to avoid getting the area too wet (in the shower), working out (sweating) or wearing makeup on that area. Lips heal quickly in 5-7 days but can scab and flake a lot more than brows. With the lip procedure you should avoid certain foods 24-48 hours after. I say to all clients the main healing days where you generally see any scabbing or exfoliation is day usually within 7-14 days. Please see aftercare for more details.
-
I take various different medications; can I still have semi permanent makeup?Medication must be disclosed in your consultation documents prior to your appt. Some medication can prevent you from undergoing the treatment. I would always recommend consulting me before booking if you’re on medication or have any allergies so I can make you aware of any contradictions there might be. I take everything very seriously, sometimes the advice I give is not always what you want to hear. Some medications and health issues require doctors consent to be able to proceed. I would advise you if this is needed. Total contradictions to this treatment include being under 18, pregnant or nursing, on blood thinning medication or skin thinning medication in any form, liver, kidney, heart or Autoimmune disorders, currently undergoing chemotherapy, Lupus, History of Keloid Scarring. Please go to the Pre and Aftercare page to see the full list.
-
Can I have these treatments done if I’m pregnant or breast feeding?NO, There is no way around this. You must not have microblading, semi permanent makeup or microneedling done whilst breast feeding or pregnant. It is also advised to wait a few months after you’ve given birth/ stopped breast feeding for all your hormones to return back to normal for best results.
-
I’ve had cancer / chemotherapy, can I have these treatments?"-In most cases yes- a doctor’s note is needed to confirm it’s safe for you to proceed. You CANNOT have any of these treatments whilst undergoing chemo or other cancer treatments. You will need to be at least 3 months clear of treatment before starting these procedures. (Timings will vary from person to person; I always will work it out with you to decide what’s best) I have worked on many clients post cancer treatment whose eyebrow hair and eyelashes have been affected. How much hair you have does not affect the outcome of your treatment.
-
Can I add shading later?Yes. You can always add shading at other appointments such as the 6 week top up or annual colour boosts. Added shading is £40. I always will advise what’s best for you at your appointment.
-
Can I go darker at my top up/colour boost?Yes. Your pigment colour is chosen on the day after an in-depth consultation. You can start with the perfect colour or a little lighter and then build up on future appointments. There is need to go straight in with a darker colour if it’s not needed, we can always see how it heals and adjust in future appointments. But remember you cannot go lighter (until it fades over time) so it’s always best to build on the colour over your appointments. Eyebrows generally soften 30-40% when healed and Lip Blush & Lash enhancement 40-60%. Please note that in some cases a colour is requested which I may not think is achievable or I think will not work with your skin and eyebrow hairs. In these cases I will always offer advise and will refuse any treatments where I do not feel client demands would be met.
-
What does semi permanent mean?It is permanent and will not fade in 2 weeks and you cannot walk out of an appointment and wipe it off. BUT it’s semi permanent because it will fade gradually over time. How quickly it will fade varies from client to client due to factors such as their skin, age and lifestyle. Treatments like eyebrows generally lasting up to 18 months+. Some pigment can stay in the skin indefinitely and professional removal can be chosen to effectively remove semi permanent makeup quicker than a natural over time fade.
-
What if I decided in 2 years time I didn’t want to continue treatments?Pigment fades and breaks down in the skin over time. Where all of my treatments are semi permanent they will fade. Generally a treatment like microblading lasts 2years+. I cannot guarantee how long pigments will take to fade. You should understand that some pigment can stay in the skin indefinitely.
-
How long will my SPMU/Microblading last?As mentioned above a treatment like microblading does generally last 2years+. You should get at least 6 months but mainly 12-18 months before you need to return for your colour boost. (Lip blush generally lasting 2-3 years before a boost is needed) Everyone is different, the only reason I should see a client at 6 months is in a worst case scenario where the pigment doesn’t hold in their skin. This is in rarer cases but is completely normal and can be due to skin type, lifestyle, aftercare, medication or health issues. If a client really loves a full bold brow they will also like to return more frequent. Anything after 18 months can mean you may need an chargeable extra session, but it really does depend on the pigment fade which varies from client to client. Anything after 37+ months for eyebrow treatments and 48+ months for eyes and lips would always be priced and treated as a new client. I charge colour boosts in price brackets but I do take into consideration how much pigment is visible. If you work or spend a lot of time outside, Exposed to UV, smoke, swim frequently or wear heavy makeup you should be aware beforehand that you will see a quicker fade.
-
Is there anything I can do to help longevity? The sun and UV will cause brows to fade a lot quicker and cause unwanted pigment colours. So make sure you protect them as much as you can with a high factor sun cream. The lip balm sticks with 30 or 50 SPF in are perfect as they are the same size of your brows so it’s an easy application. But you can use any sun cream. Hat and sunglasses are also advisable. If you use sun beds you can use your sun cream but it must be applied 20 minutes before entry. Most clients will actually cover their brows completely with a piece of material.. Such as an eye mask, sweat band etc. Avoid harsh exfoliation on your brows, and avoid using any skin peels/ acids (retinoid in particular) directly on your brows. Any products you’re unsure about just apply it round your brows to be safe.
-
How long does the procedure take? All of my semi permanent makeup sessions consists of a mini consultation the day of treatment, where we review your lifestyle and daily brow maintenance. I then map the brows according to your facial structure taking into consideration your desires, along with a colour match. Once you approve the brow shape, the procedure takes about an hour -an hour and a half. The entire session for brows and lash enhancement take around 2- 2.5 hours. Lip blush can take up to 3 hours.
-
When should I get a touch up / how much is it?I offer a complimentary touch up around 6 weeks after your initial appointment to make sure your treatment is perfect. This is included in your initial SPMU price. After that, I charge a fee for annual or semi-annual colour boosts. These are done in price brackets on the length of time it’s been since your initial appointment or last annual boost. Please see my price list for more details.
-
Who is INELIGIBLE for semi permanent makeup treatments?Microblading is not recommended for those with oily skin or large pores. Pregnant or breastfeeding . If you have glaucoma, skin diseases such as Shingles, psoriasis or eczema on the area of treatment. . Allergies to makeup, tints and hair colours and metals. . Autoimmune disorders . Lung, heart and kidney health issues Please get in touch if you are unsure.
-
How do you choose the colour and what pigments to do you use?An in-depth consultation is carried out prior to the actual treatment. I look at clients skin tone and eyebrow hairs (if any) and discuss the outcome my client would like to achieve. If necessary I can swab sample pigments on clients skin. My pigments are of the highest quality and have won many awards. I use K.B Pro and Tina Davies / Perma Blend Pigments. These are designed exclusively for professionals and are safe, vegan and cruelty free. The pigments I use are designed to combat several key problems with other pigments; uneven fade, poor retention, excessive warmth and residual greying.
-
Are your needles and blades one use for each client?Absolutely, always! All of my needles and blades are professional and purchased from trustworthy manufactures. They are all one use only and disposed of correctly after each client. This is also the same for a lot of my equipment and PPE. To avoid any cross contamination, after each client my work area is stripped and disposed off. What cannot be disposed is cleaned and sterilised with high disinfectants.
-
How long should I wait to go on holiday after semi permanent makeup treatments? For microblading, brows and lips at least 4-6 weeks minimum. Some clients end up going on holiday in-between the initial session and the 6 week top up. That’s ok as long as it’s been 4 weeks since treatment and the treatment area MUST be protected with a high factor sun cream, and shaded as much as possible. Clients should be aware that doing this could affect the treatment outcome if you were to not follow the after/sun are rules. For best results for new clients you should carry out both treatment sessions and wait 6 weeks before a holiday. If you have a holiday already booked for the future and would like to book for SPMU, work backwards 12+ weeks from your date. This will give you a rough safe date for treatment. If you are having a returning colour boost count 6+ weeks back from your holiday date.
